Getting Connected.pdf
If you are new to Pouce Coupe Community Church or have been here since the beginning, we want to see you connected in community. Community is a gift of God, essential for your growth as an individual and our growth as a Church. Since we are created in the image of God, we are intended for community, for God is a community of persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God has created community for our benefit and His glory.
Our hope is to create a connecting and caring environment were we can invite you to participate in the life of what the Lord is doing at Pouce Coupe Community Church. We want you to find a place of belonging through serving and Biblical community with us. Come and join us.
What are Home Groups?
There are different home groups that gather weekly for fellowship and accountability, study and prayer, good times and tears. Pouce Coupe Community Church's Home Groups are an essential expression of our churchs mission. At the heart of the Home Groups ministry is the desire to see a community of believers who worship Jesus, love one another, and embody the mission of PCCC to make disciples. God has called us to a continuous lifestyle of worship and relationship with Himself, which is cultivated and nurtured within the body of Christ.
The Church is a people. It is a gift of God. At PCCC, home groups are the place where discipleship and care takes place. It is where we encourage one another to be worshipers of our Lord. It is where the church becomes the church, loving, caring and challenging one another. As well, it is within community
that we engage culture and model Jesus in the nooks and crannies of our town and area. We were created to worship Jesus in community, in the image of our Creator, who Himself exists in community. It is our desire to see that every member of PCCC is loved, cared for, and challenged within a thriving
community. It is also our desire that our neighbors within Pouce Coupe, Dawson Creek, and the Peace Region are blessed and touched by the love of Jesus through the lives of our members.
A Home Group is a gathering of people from the church that get together weekly to share life and support one another. Life is hard. It was never meant to be lived in isolation. Community is a gift of God intended to help us see and experience the good news of Jesus in profound and tangible ways. If you are
new to the church, this is the perfect place for you to belong, ask questions, and wrestle with your faith in a community of people who care for you.
It is within community that we exist as a true family in a time when the concept of a loving and caring family can seem foreign. It is a place where we encourage and challenge one another in our journey to know Jesus in deeper and more personal ways. In Home Groups, people talk through life issues, eat together, pray together, laugh together, struggle together, and serve others as we are transformed by
the grace of God in our lives.
Why are Home Groups so important?
Getting connected at Pouce Coupe means participating in both the Sunday gathering and a Home Group. Sundays are a time for celebrating in worship of Jesus together, hearing the preaching of the Word, and sharing in Communion.
Home Groups are the place where the seeds of the preached Word take root and become real. It is the place where we build relationships with one another and live life together. As well, it is within the groups within the neighborhoods of the areas that we live that we can participate in the work that God has called us to as a church.

Children's Church
Our teachers recognize the importance of discipling the children in our church body and strive to support families in the task of helping children learn who the Lord is and how they can serve him. The book of Mathew depicts Jesus ministering and caring for children:
"Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"
(19:13-14)
Classes are held during the regular church service every Sunday morning. Classes are available for children ages 1-4 in the playroom and ages 4-10 in the Annex. The children in these classes can participate in lessons, crafts, games and learning memory verses.
This year all three classes will be focusing on learning about different heroes in the Bible. We look forward to a fun and exciting year.
New Ministries
Do you see an unmet need in this church? We invite your suggestions and your willingness to serve. Please contact either Cory Lizotte, or any member of the Equipping Leadership team. We continually look to create ministries that meet real needs, not merely to provide programs.
Summer of 2011
July 4th - 8th Vacation Bible School
9 am - 11:30 am.
This year we hosted Hometown Nazareth, a Vacation Bible School ministry where children experienced what life was like where Jesus grew up.
26 children attended throughout the week and participated in a wide range of activities. They visited Mary's house to hear stories about Jesus. The children were given shekels to spend in the marketplace each day. In the marketplace they gave the shopkeepers shekels in exchance for doing crafts, ranging from making felted soap in the wool shop, constructing wagons in the carpentry shop, making their own beads and beading necklaces or bracelets at the bead bazaar, and painting tzedakah (charity) boxes at the Synagogue school. The children made sure to save a shekel each day for the very popular food market where they enjoyed some Nazareth style snacks.
As well, each day the children were able to participate in games and take part in hometown huddle where their tribes discussed the Bible concepts of the day.
Big thanks to all volunteers who made it all happen.

Summer of 2010
During the week of July 5th to 9th 2010, Pouce Coupe Community Church hosted Bible Boot Camp, a Vacation Bible School Ministry based on the Armor of God as outlined in Ephesians 6.
The children who attended participated in activities to learn about finding strength in the Lord and protecting oneself from the enemy. 23 children joined our ministry team for music, crafts, Bible learning, physical activities and more fun including visits from our special guest puppets, Skip and Sally.
God blessed our week with an eager group of children and a fabulous team of volunteers and we give him thanks for the success of Bible Boot Camp. We look forward to what adventures await us with Vacation Bible School at Pouce Coupe Community Church in 2011.

About us:
Joseph:
I was born in Vancouver children s hospital in 1985. I have lived around the country, so answering the question where did I grow up is kind of difficult. Just before I moved to Dawson, I came to believe that Jesus Christ is the only God and He loved me enough to have paid my price of sin by dying on the cross and rising from the dead three days later (essentially, I become a christian). I moved to Dawson shortly after (about 5 years ago). I met both Pastor Cory and Reverend John Klassen, who have taught and discipled me over the last 5 years, and have been good friends. I met Courtney one sunday morning at Pouce Coupe Community Church and married her shortly after. Courtney and I have been married since 2008. I am currently working for Independence Networking Services in Dawson Creek and attending the Social Services Worker Diploma Program at Northern Light College.
Courtney:
I was born and raised in Dawson Creek. I am a hair stylist at Trend Setters and I have been married to Joseph for about two years. I met Joseph at Church where we started attending a bible study together and volunteering for children church. I love Jesus, I love my husband, and I love the church.
Youth Group

Our Foundational Values
a. The bible is our final authority for what we believe and for how we live.
We believe that the Christian Scripture, namely, the Bible, is the word of God in written form, infallible as our guide for faith and life, and that it is thereby the sole basis of authority from which the Church establishes it's mission, gives leadership, teaches people, and addresses life issues.
b. The Lord Jesus Christ is our main focus becuase as God our Savior,He is unique, and worthy of our praise and worship.
We understand the scriptures to emphasize the centrality of Jesus Christ to be God the Son, who is mankinds only means to finding forgiveness of sins and peace with God.
c. Jesus is Present by his holy spirit, wherever two or more believers gather in His name. Whether we are gathered for worship, or are standing alone for Jesus sake in the work place, we may experience His presence and power.
Our conviction is that the holy spirit takes residence within us from the moment we place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. From the teachingsof the bible and experience, we know that the Holy Spirit does the following, and much more:
- He makes it possible for us to understand the Good News of forgiveness from God. He creates eternal life within us the moment we put our faith in Jesus.
- He helps us to know and understand and obey Gods wull for our lives.
-He communes with our spirit, verifying that we are His children.
- He assures, encourages and comforts us from within.
- He intercedes for us before God the Father.
- He instills in us hope of the resurrection and everlasting life.
- When we meet together, He forms us as many individuals into the corporate people of Godknown as the Church, which is the body of Christ.
- He gives each believer one spiritual gift whereby he/she may help others to know Gods love and special favor.
- He continuously fills us with His presence and power when we ask him to.
- He Shows us new ways to build and promote his Kingdom and the peace & Justice of his reign as King.
Our "Being" Values
a. Everyone needs God to transform him/her from the inside out.
We believe that anyone may experience God's love and forgiveness when by faith, he/she accepts and recieves Christ as savior and Lord. Believing in Christ means that you tell God that you agree with Him that you have missed the mark of His perfection and holiness. You ask God to forgive you for missing His mark. You thank God for transferring your sins upon Jesus, and you thank the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross in your place. You invite Jesus to live within you by his Holy Spirit, to take control of your life as your Savior and Lord.
b. The Church is people, not building.
- We understand the Church to be the corporate body of people who are faith-followers of Jesus Christ.
- As Christ's followers, we are "the called out one's", called by Christ to come out of the world into God's Kingdom.
- As Christ's faith-followers, we voluntarily covenent ourselves to love and to serve one another, and to build up and encourage one another under the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit of God.
- We believe that the local church, as such a covenant community, serves to provide a viable alternative to the isolating individualism of society.
c. The mark of a true Christian is an everyday life-style of love and integrity.
We understand Christian discipleship to be in effect seven days a week, not just on sunday mornings. We are committed to living exemplary lives, which are observable by the world, and in which our "walk" matches our "talk" regardless of the circumstance.
d. Holiness means to imitate Jesus.
We are voluntarily committed to being God's people whom Jesus Christ has called out of the world to follow Him in this world.
- Being Christ-followers means that we desire to obey Jesus Christ and the principles of the Bible, in everything we think and say and do.
- We understand holiness to be a spiritual quality. It comes to us first as a gift from God when we place our faith in Jesus Christ.
- We understand that holiness has a practical side. It has moral and ethical applications pertaining to all relationships. For example, we understand that "moral purity" reserving
any sexual activity for expression only in the marriage covenant.
Our "Doing" Values
a. Interpreting the Bible.
Because it's important to maintain accuracy and balance in the way we interpret the Bible, we interpret the Bible together through prayerful study, and by talking to one another about what the Bible says and about what we understand it to mean. We check private interpretations of Scripture to the collective understanding and wisdom of the Church as a whole.
b. We show our commitment to Christ by being baptized after we have come to personal faith in Christ.
We baptize people after they voluntarily profess Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior. When people come us having been baptized as infants, we respectfully ask them to build upon the faith of their parents by making their own personal profession of faith through the public witness of baptism. We respect all three methods of baptism, so long as baptism occurres after a person comes to faith.
c. We meet regularily as "the Church gathered".
We understand that at times when the local Church has gathered, it's pupose is to worship and prais God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We see worship times as occasions of joy and celebration and prayer. In corporate, the Church gathered encounters God and responds to that encounter with worship, adoration, praise, confession and thanks giving. The Church gathered recieves encouragement and instruction as equipping for better service. The church gathered also engages in mutual support in corporate and personal discipleship.
d. We encourage every Christian in our church to use whatever special gift or ability God has given her/him.
We believe that each Church member brings glory to God by striving for exellence in all areas of life and ministry.
- We value every member to be vitally important to the effective working of the church. The gift(s), which God gives each member, are given so that the church may be strengthened by the service performed by the member. We therefore encourage each member to seek to discover his/her spiritual gifts and to find a service opportunity in which to perfect that gift.
- We affirm the equality of women and men. We affirm both women and men to be created in God's image, to be receivers of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, to be gifted by God the Holy Spirit "just as he determines", and to be accountable to God for responsible stewardship in building up others in the faith.
e. We do our best to make newcomers feel welcome and at home.
We see the need to foster and promote the connectedness between in-coming new members and the church. Mentors help this connection process to take place with warmth, confidence and trust.
- We encourage newcomers that after one year of having been mentored, they seek out other mentors in specialized areas of need.
f. We put our money where our faith is.
We practice responsible stewardship. We believe that all people are accountable to God for the way they use their time, material resources, finances, talents, personal interests, relationships, self care, and in the way they show respect and care for God's creation. We also encourage systematic and regular financial giving to the local Church so that as Christ's body we may do His work.
g. We want the world to know Jesus.
We believe that every Christian has been commissioned by Jesus Christ to help other people to find peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that this commission is not an option, and that it takesus beyond our immediate community to wherever the Lord may call us.
h. We want to make a practical difference in our neighboring community.
As Christ's followers, we make ourselves available to others as Christ's agents of peace, justice and fairness in situations where we see relational conflicts or abuses of power or resources occur. We also seek to find practical ways to show Christ's compassion to others who are hurting, in the neighboring community.
Who Is Jesus?
http://www.marshillchurch.org/about/jesus
The Bible declares that Jesus was/is God the Son who in His incarnation (birth into human history as fully God and fully man) provided for us the clearest and most important revelation of God that has ever been or ever will be and can alone forgive our sins and grant us salvation. In Hebrews 1:1-3 we read, In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of Gods glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
The question of Jesus is of vital importance because while many people believe such things as that Jesus lived, was a good teacher, or a very spiritual man, there remains many erroneous perspectives of Him that deny that He is God. The Apostle Paul spoke of this propensity to reduce the majesty of the real Jesus in favor of a diluted and diminished Jesus that in the end is no longer truly Jesus at all. In 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 Paul writes, But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpents cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
To help you determine your own personal belief about Jesus we have compiled the following eight reasons and hope they will compel you to receive Him as your own God. Each line of reasoning includes a verse from the Bible that is a quote from the mouth of Jesus declaring that He was/is God. Jesus was put to death for continually declaring Himself to be God and in the end it really comes down to whether or not each of us believes Him and on that point His words become incredibly personal and pertinent.
Jesus said He was God
Throughout the history of the world that have been numerous people who claim to speak for God, but there has also been a surprisingly short list of people who have actually claimed to be God. For example, such religious leaders as Buddha, Krishna, Muhammad, and Ghandi did not claim to be God. But, Jesus clearly and repeatedly said He was God.
Mark 14:61-64 “Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?’ ‘I am,’ said Jesus. ‘And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’ The high priest tore his clothes. ‘Why do we need any more witnesses?’ he asked. ‘You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?’”
John 8:58-59 “I tell you the truth,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’ At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.”
John 10:30-33 “I and the Father are one.’ Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, ‘I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?’ ‘We are not stoning you for any of these,’ replied the Jews, ‘but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.’”
John 14:8-9 “Philip said, ‘Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.’ Jesus answered: ’Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Jesus said He came from heaven
On a very rare occasion someone will claim that they have been taken into heaven for a brief experience of its grandeur. Examples would include people who claim to have had a near death experience, and the founder of Islam Mohammad who claimed that on one occasion he was taken from earth to heaven. But, Jesus claimed to have come down from His eternal home in heaven, a claim which has never been made by the founder of any other world religion and evidence that Jesus was/is God because God alone dwells in heaven eternally.
John 6:38, 41-42, 60, 66 “For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me . . .’ At this the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down from heaven.’ They said, ‘Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ’I came down from heaven’?’ . . . On hearing it, many of his disciples said, ‘This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?’ . . . From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.”
John 16:28 “I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.
Jesus said He was sinless
John 8:46 “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?”
In the history of the world no one has claimed with any credibility that they are without sin because to do so is to declare that one’s words, actions, thoughts, and motivations are continually perfect and pure. And, as the old adage goes, no one is perfect. Even those religious leaders who are widely recognized as the most devout and morally upright (e.g. Mohammad, or Ghandi) have claimed that they were indeed sinners. But, Jesus declared that He was not only morally superior to everyone who has ever lived, but in fact sinless. The perfect sinless of Jesus makes Him admittedly more holy and worthy of our devotion than anyone who has ever lived and helps to prove that He was/is God because God alone is without sin.
Jesus forgave sin
Mark 2:5 “When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’”
While much of the resources in our world are spent on dealing with the effects of sin (e.g. war, illness, death, depression, crime, poverty, etc.) there is still no way for people to have their sins forgiven so that they might be cleansed from their stains. At best, some religions try to teach their adherents what they can do to work hard at paying God back through such things as good works and reincarnation, they still lack any concept of forgiveness. But, Jesus forgave sin because He was/is God and since all sin is ultimately committed against Him, He alone has the power to forgive the sins of sinners.
Jesus said He was the only way to heaven
John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.’”
While there are many religious and spiritual teachers who claim that they can point you to heaven’s path, they themselves do not claim that they are that path. But, Jesus promised that He was the way to eternal life in heaven. This also proves that Jesus was/is God because since heaven belongs to God, it is God alone who determines who will live with Him forever there. And, Jesus’ ability to give spiritual life after physical death to those who believe in Him is further evidence that He was/is God who rules over heaven and our eternity.
Jesus confirmed to others He was God
Matthew 26:63-65 “But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, ‘I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.’ ‘Yes, it is as you say,’ Jesus replied. ‘But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’ Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, ‘He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.’”
Not only did Jesus repeatedly declare that He was God, but He also reiterated this fact when others who doubted or opposed that claim inquired of Him. For example, as the verse above describes an occasion in which a religious leader sought to condemn Jesus publicly for committing blasphemy, or declaring Himself to be God. The penalty for blasphemy was death and if Jesus were not convinced that He was God then we would expect Him to clarify the misunderstanding about Himself in an effort to avoid a bloody death. But, Jesus declared that He was God which further proves that everyone throughout history who has believed that Jesus claimed to be God has not misunderstood His words but rather understood them clearly.
Jesus accepted worship as God
Matthew 14:33 “Then those who were in the boat worshiped him Jesus, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
John 9:38 “Then the man said, ‘Lord Jesus, I believe,’ and he worshiped him.”
The 10 Commandments which governed the life and worship of God’s people begin with the declaration of who God is and the commands to worship God alone and no one or nothing but Him (Exodus 20:1-17). To worship anyone or anything other than the One True God as the incredibly sin of idolatry that is forbidden throughout the Bible. But, Jesus freely welcomed other people to call Him God and worship Him as God without correcting or rebuking them for being in error. Therefore, Jesus acceptance of worship also proves that He was God.

To Judge or Not to Judge
Casual readers of the Bible may be confused when they read in the Bible on the one hand, that we are not to judge others Matthew 7:1-5), and then on the other hand, we are actually instructed to exercise judgment (I Corinthians 5 and I Corinthians 6). On the surface, this appears to be a contradiction, but in reality it isn't.
This short ebook seeks to explain what it means to exercize judgment as Christians.

Conflict Resolution is an Ebook written by founding Pastor Rev. John F. Klassen. This Ebook is intended for occasions of relational conflict that may arise and if the Leadership Team becomes informed that a person in the church may have acted or may be acting in a manner inconsistant with the church's standards.
The Leadership Team, as well as church members and persons involved in conflict, will need to draw upon objectively-set policies and procedures for guidance in providing proper and biblical leadership in conflict situations.
The following policies and procedures are intended to serve as such guidelines to help the Leadership Team to offer loving, objective, and restorative leadership to all people concerned, consistent with the Leadership Team's mandate.
This is an over-arching policy statement, covering a multitude of potential issues. It is understood that as different circumstances arise, it will be seen that the policy must continue to develop and be revised to accomplish the ends of the church, which is the people of God. The general principles are: sacrificial love, reconciliation with the church and with others, justice and fairness, and biblical values expressed in a consistent life-style.

You'll learn we're not perfect; but fortunately, we've been saved by the One Who is.
